Standard Ball Insert
Fluted Check Insert
The special fluted design of EMI's FCI (Fluted Check Insert) stays centered and hits the hole square in situations where the ball in a standard insert may hit one side of the hole before seating inside the insert causing uneven wear and a poor seal. Our standard FCI is constructed from S-7 Tool Steel to provide maximum durability--one customer indicates the original S-7 FCI has been installed for more than a year with no wear inside the insert shell and just a minor indicator ring on the FCI itself. Our customers have consistently reported decreased recovery times versus a standard ball insert. Also, the pack out of the part is more consistent than before, with no loss of cushion.

Valve Material Descriptions
Item Description Ball Check Resin
4150 Pretreated Iron base with chromium and molybdenum for hardenability and abrasion resistance. Furnished in pre-heat-treated state of R/C 32. Induction hardened seal diameter to R/C 45-55 to / " max. depth on a side. General purpose materials. S-7 Tool Steel Air hardened tool steel having high impact and shock resistant characteristics. Used as optional material for ball check insert only. Hardened to R/C 48-52. General purpose materials with fast cycles. 440C Stainless Steel This grade of stainless steel offers not only good corrosion resistance but also good mechanical properties not offered in other stainless steels. Hardened to R/C 50-55. Corrosive materials with low abrasion fillers. CPM 9V Tool Steel CPM grade 9V has a hot work steel analysis with a high carbon and vanadium content. This chemistry provides superior wear resistance not offered by any other specialty tool steel. CPM-9V also has exceptional torsional strength required for molding. Hardened to R/C 54-56. The stud is drawn down to R/C 45-49. General purpose, engineered and filled materials. CPM S90V Stainless Tool Steel Offers the same high wear resistance and technology as CPM 9V combined with the corrosion resistance of 440C stainless steel. Hardened to R/C 54-56. The stud is drawn down to R/C 45-49. General purpose, filled and filled corrosive materials.
